Bake My Fish is actually Bob Phillips. I grew up in Prince George’s County, Maryland, primarily Capitol Heights and graduated from Central High School in Seat Pleasant in 1968.

Then I went into the Air Force from 1969 – 1973 to avoid the draft and Vietnam (so kill me). I served in Taiwan from July 1969 – February 1973, and after returning to the United States attended Prince George’s Community College for one year, then transferred to the University of Maryland and graduated in 1976, with a degree in Government & Politics, and a concentration in East Asian Studies, Chinese Language and English Composition.

I have been a janitor, shoe salesman, Disc Jockey, Conversational English Teacher, Pots and Pans Salesman, Good Humor Man, Cab Driver, bartender, Gong Show Host, small-time politician (note the lack of capitalization) and Manager of the Baltimore Bands, OHO, who were signed to an independent deal with Sky Records in 1990 and Experience Wheeler, who broke up too many times for a website.  All of this will make sense as you read my posts.

I have two children, Pamela and Sean. Pamela lives in Renton WA, with her daughter Jessica. Sean lives in Bellevue, WA.

My wife, Nancy, is from Philadelphia. Her relatives cause a bit of stress for me because they are Eagles fans. Being a Redskins fan is a tough gig. I worked in Baltimore, and for some reason the people in Baltimore hate the Redskins. Then I have to deal with my Philadelphia relatives who hate them, too.

Many people ask why the moniker “Bake My Fish?” I think it’s cute. While a member of AOL years ago when there were chat rooms, it seemed to get the biggest LOL from the other people in the rooms, so I decided to use it as my pen name. There were other names like BeatenSquid, BeefTongue, OnlyOneCannoli, TonyToetag, LOLmyArse, XmasAtKmart, LightsOnNotHome, WeirdGeezer, BagODonuts, etc. But Bake My Fish and BeatenSquid are my favorites.  Some of them may contribute to this blog.

My home is Eldersburg, MD, where we have lived since 1986.

I just retired on December 28, 2018.  Yay me!

So, there you have it. I am me, and you are reading my stuff.

With Love,

Bake My Fish
